Happy February lovelies!! I am sure you have probably heard this so many times but really how is it already the second month of 2017?!? Insane! Im not mad about it though, I think February may be one of my favorite months. Its the beginning of the year, people are motivated, everyone is happy and love is in the air! Who couldn't love this month? It's short and sweet! Whether you are in a relationship, going through a break up or happily single, we can all find ways to exemplify love this month! I have decided to dedicate this year to improving myself. What exactly does that mean? Good question. I am finding as I get older that relationships don't last forever, friendships may fall apart, and distance becomes a casual thing in adulthood. So scary, I know. But if you really see it in the right perspective, it can be the greatest thing. Lately I have been honing in on ways I can focus on "me" because we cant truly be there for others if we don't take care of ourselves first, and not even in a selfish way. So with that, I want to share a few ways with you how I am setting a goal to love myself more.

1. Stop caring what others think

This is a home runner for me. I wish I could say I didn't but sometimes it is easy to let what others think of you influence you in a negative way. As a millennial of todays society, we are broken down and criticized for our every action. Social media can be a blessing and a curse in disguise. Look at how far we have come as far as connecting with people through social media, marketing, branding, and so much more. There is a lot of good to be had from social media. But with many good things not far behind negative things may follow. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there on the internet for whom ever to stumble across and judge or criticize you. It is so easy to hide behind a social media account and point out someone else's flaws. I can't say that people are not going to do it because they are but it is up to you to not let it effect you. You are worth so much no matter who tells you otherwise. My mom has always told me starting at a young age (as my grandmother told her) "beauty is only skin deep" and I couldn't agree more! I plan to stop letting mean people effect me and let my true personality shine as much as I can this year!

2. Give more and take less

I believe that this comes with a fine line. I have always been the type of person to love to give. Whether this is sending a sweet, hand written note to my best friends or family or giving the homeless man that lives under the bridge next to my apartment a meal every now and then when I had some extra cash. But, I have also in my life been taken advantage of. I like to think that no one would ever just take without anything to offer or give or even being grateful for it, but that is not the case. The worst feeling in the world is being taken advantage of, and this goes for relationships and/or friendships. Never let a person take your time without them using it purposefully. It is not worth your time. Being mindful of that will help you to not be disappointed when you feel defeated in a relationship/friendship with someone.

3. Happy Girls are the prettiest girls

Smile more, darling. We have so much to be thankful for. Do what makes you happy, it may be the simplest thing. For me an early Sunday morning barre class, a trip to whole foods accompanied by a lavender latte, and a day outside in the sun reading or listening to an inspiring podcast make me happy. Oh and fresh flowers, lots of them! (Ok and wine nights with my mama or an hour long phone sesh with my bestfriend, Kaitlin!!) Whatever it is, find what makes you happy and do more of it! We have so little time on this earth, why waste it?!

I hope this has encouraged you to learn to love yourself more! It is the single most important thing we can do as humans. How can you love someone else if you don't love yourself first?! Just food for thought, take it as you will.
